Trinil Stone – Java Man Discovery Plaque
Homo erectus erectus
From the Historic Java Man Site
This is a direct resin casting of the original bronze plaque located at the famous Trinil site on the banks of the Bengawan Solo River in Ngawi Regency, East Java, Indonesia. It was here, in 1891, that Dutch anatomist Eugène Dubois uncovered the first early hominid remains ever found outside of Europe — the now-legendary "Java Man" specimen.
The plaque reads (translated):
> “Pithecanthropus erectus was found 175 meters east-north-east of this spot in the years 1891/1893.”
