Frédéric François Chopin Left Hand Cast Replica
Born: Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin
Date: 22 February or 1 March 1810 – 17 October 1849
The great composer Frédéric Chopin passed away in Paris.
On 17 October, after midnight, his physician leaned over him and asked whether he was suffering greatly. "No longer", he replied. He died a few minutes before two o'clock in the morning.
Surrounded by close friends and family, his final moments were marked by calm and quiet resignation. Soon after his passing, a death mask and a cast of his left hand were created by Solange Sand’s husband, French sculptor Jean-Baptiste Clésinger.
This is a resin replica of that original cast—an evocative and historically meaningful piece capturing the hand that brought to life some of the most profound piano compositions in classical music.
