🔬 About the Liliger:
The first liliger, named Kiara, was born in September 2012 at the Novosibirsk Zoo in Russia, to a male lion (Sam) and a ligress (Zita). Despite the rarity of such hybrids, the same pair later produced three more female liligers — Luna, Sandra, and Eva.
In the U.S., a liliger cub was born on November 29, 2013, to lion Simba and ligress Akaria at the Garold Wayne Interactive Zoological Foundation in Oklahoma. Two more cubs followed the next day. Sadly, one of these cubs passed away of natural causes.
