Baby Triceratops Replicas Available
In 2006, near the town of Jordan, a remarkable Triceratops quarry was discovered. The site contained a partial skull and skeleton of a sub-adult Triceratops, along with several elements from an exceptionally rare baby Triceratops.
The first juvenile bones recovered were a complete left humerus measuring 6.25 inches long and a right dentary (lower jawbone) that was approximately 50% complete. As preparation of the sub-adult material continued, an exciting discovery was made—the complete left dentary of the baby Triceratops. Measuring 5.25 inches long, this specimen allowed paleontologists to determine the full size and shape of the jaw and accurately reconstruct the incomplete right dentary.
These rare fossils have now been reproduced as high-quality resin cast replicas. Each dentary replica contains a tooth, making this an especially unique and fascinating display piece for collectors, educators, and dinosaur enthusiasts.
Based on the size of these juvenile bones, the baby Triceratops is estimated to have been less than 3 feet long, with a skull measuring under 12 inches in length.
The fossils were recovered from the famous Hell Creek Formation, one of the most important dinosaur-bearing formations in the world. Dating to the Late Cretaceous Period, the Hell Creek Formation has produced countless significant fossil discoveries, including specimens of Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus rex.
Interestingly, the first Tyrannosaurus rex fossils collected by Barnum Brown over a century ago were found within approximately 100 miles of this site.
