Carcharodon megalodon
The megalodon was a gigantic prehistoric shark and the apex predator of its era. It is considered the largest carnivorous fish known to have existed, and quite possibly the largest shark to ever live. Traditionally placed in the family Lamnidae, its exact classification remains debated, with some researchers proposing placement within a separate genus. Fossil evidence shows that megalodon preyed on large marine animals, including early whales.
